I built this for my oldest daughter. She has a pedestal sink in her master bath and nowhere to store things. This was a present from her husband for Christmas 2021. She had told her husband that she wanted something “built by her daddy”. She was totally dissatisfied with the pedestal sink as it provided no storage space. He asked me if I could build one and I told him that I would try. Here is the result of my efforts.
This was my first attempt at building a vanity. My shop is a 10’x14′ building and houses all my tools. My wife and I built this vanity inside the shop. The plywood was cut outside but, all the assembly was inside the building. The drawers have full-extension slides. I used the full extension slides so that the drawers could be fully extended so that small items that inevitably slid to the back could be located easily.
The vanity is 63 inches in length. I built it to fit the existing space. All the other dimensions are standard for bath vanities and the unit is strong enough to support a granite countertop. It is constructed of 3/4-inch plywood and a 1/4-inch plywood back from Lowes.
The vanity was painted using NUVO Cabinet Paint from Amazon. The cabinet was painted using Titanium Fusion and the drawer front insets were painted using Driftwood. I then used Nuvo Cabinet Paint Topcoat to finish off the project. The Nuvo cabinet paints are self-leveling and provide a beautiful smooth long-lasting finish. The drawer and door hardware came from Lowes and the drawer slides were ordered from CabinetParts.com.
I also ordered the feet for the vanity from CabinetParts.com. The vanity feet are 4-inches in height and will support 330 lbs. per leg.

The cabinet was assembled inside my 10×14 shop. The plywood was cut outside but all assembly was indoors. I did discover that I definitely need a larger shop if I am to continue to build projects this large.
Just seeing the smile on her face made the project all worthwhile.

The vanity was built during the chinese virus fiasco. Lumber was priced outrageously, and some materials were hard to get. I had between $900 and $1000 invested in materials for this project.
